Cashflow What is your cashflow forecast over coming months and years? Sales Explain what you will do in terms of actively selling — for example, phoning or meeting customers. For example, how much you have invested in the business.
This section convinces the reader that you have the right team to make your business a success. How much have key individuals personally invested in the business? Management credibility can be damaged.
Show the plan to friends and expert advisers and ask for comments.
Business Overview Guidance Note: Be realistic, even if you are selling the business to a third party. How do you promote your product or service? Sales and Marketing Guidance Note: Give details about the history and current status of the business.
Premises and Equipment Explain what premises you have or are looking for. Only then do they read the rest of the plan to confirm their decision. Never openly criticise or underestimate competitors.
You may want to include more details in the appendix — for example, giving a detailed breakdown of all your start-up costs Explain how much financing you are looking for, in what forms. How large is each market segment? Explain any key features of the industry For example, any special regulations, whether the industry is dominated by a few large companies or any major changes in technology.
If not, why not? Note the distribution channels used by your competitors. Which parts did they not understand or find unconvincing? Explain how you will deal with them.
For example, price, quality, distribution. What are your products or services? This summarises the key points, starting with the purpose of the business plan. What is your pricing policy?
What is the outlook for those drivers and the market?
